Dear Alenka

Alenka is a new friend of mine, who I met by chance in an elevator. She's a fantastic poet and writer and a wonderful person. She's leaving North America today to embark on the next part of her journey and has inspired me to write my first poem.

Dear Alenka,

You’re as vast and infinite as the sky and as deep as the depths of the sea,

I am forever grateful that the Universe brought you to me.

I know this change is scary— like stepping into the abyss,

But trust in your heart and soul—this is something you cannot miss.

Your courage and light overflow, radiating from your skin,

It’s seeped into mine too, expanding, igniting a glow from within.

Notice your passions, your desires, the little whispers soft yet true,

It is never too late—this fresh start was made for you.

Be curious, indulge in your art, your path, your endless way,

There are no wrong turns, only lessons to brighten a future day.

You’ve got this—strong, smart, capable and driven,

Show up in the world as you, no part of you hidden.

Thank you for sharing your love and your light,

I can’t wait to see us both reach new heights.

Nothing is forbidden, you can do anything you please,
